Giving back to London

09 Dec , 2019
For most of the year the Pines and Needles team are resident in London. It is a brilliant city, a fantastic place to live and is the home of many fantastically vibrant communities. As we ramp up to Christmas each year we open a number of pop up stores across London (22 in 2019). Here you can bring your family and really get into the Christmas spirit, choose your own real Christmas Tree, decorations, lights and accessories.

The festive season is all about giving and in a business like ours which relies on the good will and generosity of so many people, it is nice to give something back to this fantastic city and the communities which sustain us. We do this in a number of ways, one of which is through our schools’ programme.

Under our schools’ programme, we offer any school one of beautiful Christmas Trees free of charge for the children to enjoy. If you are nearby one of pop up Christmas Tree stores you can order a tree for your school. All we ask in return is that you inform parents about us and where we are located. In the past schools have done this through their newsletter, emails to parents, social media posts or by placing our flyers in the kids' school bags.

You might think that bringing real Christmas Trees to the centre of London is really unsustainable but you would be wrong. Our Christmas Trees are sustainably grown on our plantations in Scotland. For most of the year Pines and Needles is carbon positive as our trees absorb Carbon and emit Oxygen. During the Christmas season Pines and Needles is Carbon Neutral as any emissions from transportation and delivery vehicles is offset by the trees still growing in our plantations. We mainly source British trees from our own sustainable plantations so there are less
