East Midlands Railway Case Study

East Midlands Railway required a coordinated multi-site Christmas installation across several railway stations, including Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham, and Sheffield.

As high-footfall transport hubs, these locations required festive installations that would enhance the passenger experience and station environment, while maintaining a professional, consistent presentation across all sites. The brief focused on delivering a simple, high-quality solution that could be implemented efficiently within operational railway environments.

The Challenge

The Challenge

Delivering across multiple active railway stations introduced a number of operational challenges. Installations needed to be carried out within tight, out-of-hours access windows to avoid disruption to passengers and services.

Each station presented its own facilities constraints, including layout, access, and safety requirements, while still requiring a consistent visual standard. In addition, the programme needed to be managed in line with budget oversight and procurement processes, ensuring a smooth and straightforward experience for internal teams.

Unlike single-site projects, success depended on delivering a replicable, well-managed solution across all locations, with minimal complexity for the client.

The Solution

The Solution

A multi-location indoor tree installation programme was delivered across four stations, designed to create a cohesive festive presence throughout the network.

Key features:

  • Installations at Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham, and Sheffield stations
  • A range of 10ft, 15ft, and 24–25ft indoor Nordmann Fir trees
  • Warm white LED lighting schemes, including battery and connector systems
  • Festive decoration sets and 40cm lit star toppers
  • White picket fencing surrounds to create clean, defined installations
  • Painted wooden base boxes for larger feature trees
  • Out-of-hours installation and de-rig (evening/night schedules)
  • Full service including delivery, installation, decoration, takedown, collection, and recycling

Each installation was designed to deliver a consistent, professional finish, while being adaptable to the specific requirements of each environment.

The Result

The programme delivered a cohesive and professional festive rollout across multiple stations, enhancing the travel environment during the Christmas period. The installations created welcoming focal points for passengers while maintaining operational efficiency and safety.
