Lyle's Style Spreads to South Africa
From small beginnings pulling a horse-box full of trees grown on the Perthshire Estate of their father, Sir Gavin Lyle BT, to a thriving business selling trees from sites across London and a fully fledged e-commerce website, brothers Josh and Sam Lyle are reaching out this Christmas to an impoverished community in Embo Kwa Zulu Natal (KZN), South Africa.
Pinesandneedles.com, the online store of the Lyle brothers, is donating a portion of their profits to the Amathuba Community Upliftment Project which builds houses for the poorest of the poor and educates as many children as possible.
Their mother Lady Suzy Lyle (previously of Glendelvine, Perthshire and now living in KZN South Africa) was touched by the reality of extreme poverty in the area and responded by starting Amathuba in partnership with community leader Robert zuma.
So far Amathuba has completed 6 houses and sponsored the education and uniforms of 80 children.
Lady Lyle has travelled to the UK on numerous occasions, presenting the project and raising funds. Both Josh and Sam, having visited the people of Embo and experienced the reality of their situation first hand, were inspired to help.
Pinesandneedles.com is not just supporting local enterprise but also transforming lives in South Africa.
Supporting the Royal British Legion
This year Pines and Needles are also very pleased to introduce their charity promotion in support of the Royal British Legion. Continuing to champion the Legion into the festive season, together we can help serving and ex-Service personnel and their families at a time when so many are away from home on active service.
Pines and Needles are donating £5 for every tree purchased online, with a code, to the Royal British Legion with your help.

Pines and Needles are proud members of the BCTGA (British Christmas Tree Growers Association). We really do grow our own trees on a plantation in Perthshire. Therefore we are in a position to guarantee freshness and quality, unlike other companies. Our trees are cared for in a way that ensures good colour and shape and that’s why we can confidently send you a tree that we know you will like. Unlike other suppliers we harvest our trees throughout November and December to ensure that the tree you receive will be fresh.
